Phoenix

This week I’ll be reviewing another one of Charlotte’s best nightclubs, Phoenix. Phoenix was the first 18 and up nightclubs that I got to go to this year and was by far one of the bests I’ve visited. The music is loud, the dance floor is packed, and it’s a ton of fun, all the qualities of a great club. The club is on College Street, in uptown Charlotte, and is located near Brixx pizza and BAR Charlotte. The club is one of the only ones I have been to that has an upstairs level that is exposed to the outdoors. I really like the layout of the whole club, because it has multiples levels, and rooms that each feel like a different club completely. One thing I don’t like about the club is the different levels on the main floor, even if just a step up, they are sometimes hard to see and can cause some walking problems. Haha. The music at Phoenix is pretty much dub step only, on Thursday nights, college nights. I’m not a huge fan of dub step myself, but a lot of my friends that went with me thought the music was great! I just have a problem with a club playing Adele, “Rolling In The Deep.” How am I going to dance to that? Other then those few things I think Phoenix is a really good time. I think that hands down Phoenix is one of the most popular clubs in Charlotte, because I see so many people I know when I go there. If you’re into dub step and enjoy dancing, then this is a club for you. If you aren’t so much into dub step, or you completely hate it, then you might need a few drinks before you go to Phoenix. (No joke.) If you aren’t too sure how you feel about dub step, then I’ll make sure to include a video of some dub step music, maybe even some Adele. All jokes aside I do recommend club Phoenix if you’re in the Charlotte area, but I’d always make sure to go with a large group, of fun people, so you don’t just awkwardly stand around. Overall I would have to give Phoenix a strong 4 out of 5 stars, and I will say that I hope to back really soon, because it is a really good time. Hope to see y’all there!

Dubstep Adele

Vandpiben. "Adele - Rolling in the Deep." YouTube. YouTube, 19 Feb. 2011. Web. 12 Mar. 2012. <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHERkl9qvC0>

This is a video from YouTube of and Adele song, “Rolling In The Deep”. It is a dubstep remix of the song, which is like some of the music featured in the club that I reviewed this week. The video includes pictures of Adele and is from a YouTube channel. You can find it by searching, Adele dubstep.

This video is relevant to my review because this is some of the actual music I have heard in club Phoenix. It gives my readers a glimpse of some kinds of music they might get to hear in the club. It gives them an idea if they will like te music in the club or not.

Dress Code

This is a screen shot from the Cameo Thursday night at Phoenix’s facebook page. This picture includes the dress code for the college night’s at the club and will help readers figure out what they need to wear. The picture is just normal text and does not represent the mood of the club.

This source is relevant to my review because if readers are interested in going to club Phoenix then they will need to know what to wear, and this link will help them be prepared before they go. If you do not meet the dress code standards you will not be permitted to enter the club so make sure you follow them.

These photos are relevant to my review, just like every other week, because they show me actually at the club so that you know all my information is relevant and true. The pictures will also allow readers to see into the club before actually visiting it. They also show what kinds of lights are used in the club.

Whisky River

This week I’ve decided to add my review of Whisky River, a nightclub in Charlotte, to my play tab. The club is known for being owned by NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. First let me say, I really love to dance, but I’m not into dub-step AT ALL, that’s important for later on. Whisky River is located in the Epicenter, which is one of my favorite places in Charlotte. I love the whole feel of it, it’s like a shopping center with the stores one on top of the next. It’s pretty cool, if you haven’t been you need to check it out for sure. Whisky River is on the second floor of the Epicenter and usually has a line at a round 11. The first time I went, I went with a group of friends and we got there around 10:30, the line wasn’t too bad. When we first got in, I wasn’t impressed because it seemed a little empty. Remember, Whisky River’s college night is on Tuesdays. After time passed the place got packed, and the music was so good! They play some of the throwbacks, like Destiny’s Child, and all the new music too! It’s not electronic remixes either; it’s the real deal, which I loved! For me Whisky was the most fun nightlife experience I’ve had, but like any other club, it’s always more fun to go with a large group of friends. The parts I liked about Whiskey were; there was room to navigate, where as in other clubs you can barley move, the music was on point, and the people there were really fun. You know how sometimes the people in club make it suck? Well at Whisky that isn’t the case. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time! I think it was because the amazing DJ! I would have to recommend Whisky over club Phoenix, but only because I prefer the music to be less electronic. Whisky is definitely a club I’ll be going to a lot more often. On a side note, I have to include one of my favorite parts of the night. After leaving the club at around 2 my friends and I found this awesome hotdog vender downstairs in the Epicenter, and let me tell you, after hours of dancing, that hotdog was the shit! No joke! The hotdog stand-alone gives the club an extra star on my review scale. Overall I would have to give Whisky River a strong 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a video provided my YouTube of an event called, Rock the Runway, that took place at Whisky River. It shows how the club can be transformed into a runway and shows models walking down the runway. It has the whole show and includes some special effects and lighting used at the club.

This source is relevant to my entry, because it shows what kind of different events have and are going to be taking place at Whisky River, and it also allows readers to see what kind of environment Whisky has. It also shows how the club can be transformed into a runway show.

Coyote Joe's

This week I’ll be reviewing one of my favorite hangouts in Charlotte, Coyote Joe’s! Make sure you keep an opened mind when trying this place out, because it might not look like you’re place to hangout but once you experience it, trust me, you’ll be addicted. When I got a text from a friend asking if I wanted to go to Coyote Joe’s on a Wednesday night for line dancing, the first thing that came to mind was no. After a little more encouragement, I decided to give the place a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoyed the place. The atmosphere is great, the people are friendly, and the band, Out of The Blue, is awesome! After that Wednesday I was hooked, the same group of friends and I have been going religiously ever since. Coyote Joe’s has so much to offer and so many different fun things to experience! Wednesday nights are just the being of the fun! Not only do ladies get in free on Wednesdays, but they also ride the bull for free, listen to the house band, Out of The Blue,  playing countries biggest hits and Coyote Joe’s also offers free line dance lessons for everyone from 7-9. They also offer 1-2-3 nights for the 21 and over crowd on select Fridays and Saturdays. Another great thing to experience at Joe’s is their concerts. They host all of the best country concerts with guest like Josh Thompson (Friday, February 3rd) and Corey Smith (Saturday, February 25th). If your going to take in some of the concert activities make sure to preorder your tickets at Coyote Joe’s website and get there ahead of time, because they fill up fast! The bar also has a great outdoor patio to cool off at, and corn hole and billiards tables inside! With Coyote Joe’s marking the only strictly country western bar in Charlotte, North Carolina, you can’t pass up the opportunity to come join in on some of the fun! If you don’t think you can fit in at Joe’s, then you’re wrong! Everyone is welcome, and you’re sure to find something to entertain you! Out of a rating from 1 to 5 stars, Coyote Joe’s gets a solid 5! It gets this score because it is one of the only places that has this much fun on a Wednesday night. Below I’ve included directions, and events coming to Coyote Joe’s in February.

Upcoming Events

“Coyote Joe’s Upcoming Events.” Coyote-joes.com. 1 February 2012.

I’ve included a calendar from Coyote Joe’s official website. It is a February 2012 calendar that provides the upcoming events that Coyote Joe’s will be hosting. It shows the special ladies nights, 1-2-3 nights and the concerts for the month of February. It is in regular calendar format and should be helpful.

It is relevant to my project; because it will help my readers learn about the upcoming events and be able to enjoy Coyote Joe’s to the fullest. It will also help spread the word about upcoming concerts and event, so that my readers can see for themselves how great Coyote Joe’s is.

"Out of The Blue"

“Good Directions.” Youtube.com. 1 February 2012.

I’ve included a video of the house band at Coyote Joe’s performing live at Coyote Joe’s. They are performing one of Billy Curington’s hits “Good Directions”. It is a video from YouTube, and you can find many more videos of the band there. They are Out of The Blue from Coyote Joe’s.

This video is relevant to my project, because it allows the reader to view the house band from Coyote Joe’s. The readers can now get a taste of what kind of music will be played and how great, Out of The Blue sounds! It also lets the reader see the stage and some of the inside of the venue.

Jimmy at Joe's

“Jimmy Richardsons Facebook.” Facebook.com. 1 February 2012.

I’ve included photos taken by me and of me at Coyote Joe’s. These pictures show me and friends, who gave me permission to use their photos, having a good time at Coyote Joe’s and enjoying some of the great things they offer. One photo includes photos of the mechanical bull and others are just of us in the venue.

These photos are relevant to my project, because they show that I have experienced Coyote Joe’s first hand and they show what a great place it is to hangout! They also show the great things there are to do, like the bull, and let readers get a look at the awesome atmosphere.
