Toyama Express

This week I found a new favorite restaurant in Charlotte, and I can’t wait to tell y’all all about it! It’s called Toyama Express and it’s a Japanese restaurant, with the best Japanese food in town! I had it first last week when one of my friends invited me to go. First you need to know that there is a Japanese restaurant in Monroe where I’m from that I eat at all the time, and I’ve been looking for a good place like it in Charlotte. When I took my first bit of the food at Toyama I knew it was going to be my new favorite. I ordered the hibachi chicken; it comes with mushrooms, rice, and sweet carrots. You get all of this for 5.99 and can add a drink for 99 cents. I love to go to Toyama when the weather is real nice, and to sit outside and eat! The people working are so nice, and like every southern boy knows, the sweet tea can make our break a place, and their sweet tea is off the chain! The first week I discovered Toyama I ate there three times in the same week. Every time someone suggests we go out and eat I always suggest we go to Toyama, because it really is that good. Below I’ll include the link to their website, a menu, and a picture of my food at the restaurant. The menu is full of things that I’ve never tried, but if they are anything like the hibachi chicken I’m sure they are amazing. I’m getting so hungry right now just thinking about all the good food a Toyama. Oh! I forgot to tell you about how good their shrimp sauce is, if the shrimp sauce isn’t good the food is ruined. They have the best shrimp sauce and they will bring you unlimited amounts of it! Haha! If I could give Toyama a 6 out of 5 stars, but I can’t so I’ll have to give them a strong 5 out of 5. If you are a fan of Japanese food, then you really need to get some friends or a date together and go get some of their amazing food! I recommend Toyama to people who aren’t a fan of Japanese as well, because this food will change you life, no joke. I haven’t ever had Japanese this good in my life, and it is so fast and cheap!

Boardwalk Billy’s

This week I decided to add to my eat tab again, this week instead of a food court I’m going to review one of my favorite places to eat in Charlotte. Boardwalk Billy’s is one of the many restaurants in University Place; it has to be my favorite place to eat in Charlotte, if not anywhere. One of my favorite parts is the location; the restaurant sits right on the edge of a beautiful pond that has pedal boat rides. You walk through a patio area to get into the restaurant, and when they aren’t busy you get seated immediately. They always have a basket of peanuts waiting at your table and the service is always excellent. My favorite food at Boardwalk is the buffalo chicken wrap with teriyaki sauce. Boardwalk has a ton of different sauces for you to choose from but the teriyaki is my favorite, hands down. The only other food I’ve ever had there was shrimp and grits and those are delicious too! The atmosphere is really relaxed and everyone there is really friendly. I love the surroundings of the restaurant; it makes me feel like I’m at the beach, and who doesn’t love the beach? After you eat it’s always fun in the summer to walk around and enjoy the pond and fountains and maybe even pedal boat. Don’t get me wrong, I love Boardwalk all year round, but the summer time is my favorite time to go and enjoy the food and the outdoors. Just talking about all there good food makes me want to get in the car and go! I promise if you like chicken wraps, you’re going to love Boardwalk’s; they are by far the best in Charlotte. Another perk of the restaurant is that it isn’t too far away from where I live, which is near the University area, and it makes it really accessible, and easy to get to. I definitely recommend going to Boardwalk with a group of friends or family and be ready to have a good time! I can promise once you go you won’t be able to stop going! I’ll make sure to include the menu and prices below, and if didn’t say before, its really affordable. I would definitely have to give Boardwalk Billy’s a 5 out of 5 stars! You have to go check it out, you’ll thank me I promise!

IKEA

This week for my blog I’m pretty excited to start my eat tab. My entry might not seem like this most likely place to eat, but come to find out, Ikea is a great place to have lunch! Not only can you get really nice, modern furniture, but also you can take in some of the best lunch in Charlotte. Today I went to IKEA with one of my friends and we were really excited to try out some of their food. The set up is like a cafeteria and you pretty much serve yourself, unless you want something like chicken strips or even baby back ribs, who knew right? You get your tray and glass at the front of the line and then continue to these glass boxes that have salads with shrimp, buffalo chicken wraps, and a ton of different desert choices. Today I had some kind of cake with strawberry jelly inside, a buffalo chicken wrap, two vegetable medallions, and a coke. My total came up to around nine dollars, and for a place with that kind of atmosphere and quality of food, that’s a great price. They have all kinds of food other than what I mentioned, and I’ll make sure to include a menu below along with some pictures of my visit. Since the store originated in Sweden there are some Swedish things that you have to try at least once, like the meatballs, and some kind of Swedish drink! The seating itself in the cafeteria is really cool, because its made up of all kinds of tables, chairs, and lights that you can actually buy in the store, and it has a really modern, edgy feel. I loved it! My trip was completed by a walk through of the seemingly, never ending store, and an overall great time. I’d have to give IKEA 4 stars out of 5, and only because I would have preferred my chicken wrap to be warm, and because some of the lighting in the cafeteria wasn’t working properly. Other than that the trip was completely enjoyable, and it’s definitely something different and fun to do during these random cold days. I recommend it, and if you do go just for furniture, make sure you’re hungry, because the food is really good! Below I’ll include pictures of what I tried today at the store and hopefully find some other pictures of what else they offer!

What I Ate

My last source is a picture collage I made on my Iphone of all the food I ate at IKEA today. It includes a top picture of my buffalo chicken wrap, and two bottom pictures of my vegetable medallions and my cream cake. They are surrounded by a white frame and edited by the frametastic app.

This source is relevant because, it shows readers that I actually ate at IKEA and it shows what the food looks like, not taken by professionals. The food is so great and these pictures so what the food really looks like in person. I took the pictures on my iphone.
