The Circus
★★★
This week I’ve decided to review one of Charlotte’s favorite events of the year, the Circus! This year my friends and I were really excited to get to go, since as we know the Circus is every child’s favorite thing. We bought tickets at the venue, because the idea didn’t occur until the day of the show. The tickets we bought, which were the cheapest and furthest away, were only ten dollars, which I thought was super reasonable. The show was, just like every circus, full of animals, clowns, and stunts. Unfortunately, the seats we had were so far away the show was a bit lackluster. The elephants were ant sized and all the wiring to hold up lights were in the way of the tightrope. I did like the theme and the set up though. I’m sure for the people who had seats on the bottom levels; the show was nothing short of life changing. My favorite parts of the show were the tigers, the clown segments, and the catchy song called “Fire It Up!” which I will include underneath this post. The ringer leader himself wasn’t that great of an actor though, and I think he was lip-syncing the entire show. One part that was really great was the man on stilts. He was super good at dancing on them, and I even saw him drop it like it was hot! It was one of the highlights of the show for sure. I can’t complain too much about the circus because I’ll start to feel bad. The circus is an American tradition and I wouldn’t want to bash something that everyone loves! I will simply say this, when you get older the circus isn’t as good as when you’re little. One that note I will also say that the tigers were really fun to watch, even though I was scared for the trainers life the whole time, some of the tigers were aggressive. Overall I would have to give this years circus a mere three out of five stars, as much as it hurts me to. I would recommend the circus for children ages 3-12. Once you’re a teen the show just loses some of it’s magic. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a circus basher; I just don’t want to go back until I have kids that are begging me to go. It isn’t a teen hangout at all, if you want some more adult fun; you need to check out my play tab. Hahaha.

This week I have decided to review one of the many concerts I attended in Charlotte this year. Charlotte is known for some of the best concerts in the area, and I love music so I try to take in as many as possible. I am a huge country music fan and when I heard Miranda Lambert was headed to Charlotte, I knew I had to be there. The concert was held at Bojangles coliseum, a venue I had never been to before. We got seats in the upper level, but compared to Time Warner Cable arena the seats were pretty close. The concert was originally scheduled for a Thursday night, but due to some family issues, her husbands dad passing away, the concert was moved to the following Wednesday. The concert began with an opening montage of many female artists with the Beyonce song “Who Run The World? Girls” playing in the background. The whole concert was very high octane and so emotional, both for fans and Miranda herself. One of my favorite parts of the whole show was when Miranda was too emotional to sing the song “The House That Built Me” and had to turn the microphone towards the audience, so that we could help her finish the song. The concert was definitely one of the bests I’ve been to and I never wanted it to end! I would recommend that anyone who is a country music fan go see Miranda in concert, although I heard her concerts are a lot better when she isn’t so upset. The only thing I could have wished for was that her female band The Pistol Annies would have taken the stage and sang their hit song, “Hell On Heels”. Other then that small request the show was amazing and I thought Miranda did amazing under the circumstances. I really hope I get to see Miranda in concert again really soon, and I also hopes she chooses the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre instead in the old coliseum. The amphitheatre is so much more fun and has the country music feel that this concert needed. Overall the concert gets a strong 4 out of 5 stars. Oh and one more thing, due to the rescheduling, one of the opening acts was unable to perform which was kind of a let down.. The concert lost a star for that! Sorry Miranda! I do however recommend a Miranda Lambert concert for anyone who loves country music!
“The House That Built Me” Live
This source is a video of Miranda Lambert, live in Charlotte North Carolina. The video shows Miranda getting emotional while trying to perform one of her emotion packed songs. She turns the microphone to the audience and you can hear the crowd sing the song for Miranda since she cannot finish.
This source is relevant because, it is from the actual concert I went to and it shows the emotional parts of the concert. These moments made the concert memorable and more personal for the crowd and for Miranda. She is singing on of her songs and you can tell how good she is live.
“Over You”
This source is a video of Miranda Lambert performing her newest song dedicated to her father in law that passed away. This song was written for him and Miranda was unable to perform it in concert, because she was too emotional. The video shows Miranda at a gravesite for him.
This source is relevant because, it shows some of Miranda Lambert’s new music off, so that readers know what kind of music to expect when they do go to her shows. It also shows how special she is and what a sweet, awesome, down to earth person she really is.

To begin the explore section of my blog, I found something really awesome to write about! Explore is a section just to post some random, but awesome things that I’ve been able to experience in and around the Charlotte area. Last Sunday, January 29th, at the Wal-Mart in Monroe, North Carolina, I got the once in a lifetime chance to meet, country superstar, Kellie Pickler. Not only is Kellie one of my favorite country artists, but she is also one that is very well known for her season on American Idol. I’m from Monroe, and I know its not that often that someone this famous stops by to sign autographs, and take pictures, so this was a big deal for our town. Kellie was set to appear in the garden center at 2 o’clock, but my friends and I decided we weren’t going to take any chances on missing out on Kellie Pickler! We arrived at Wal-Mart around 12, to guarantee we got a spot in line. We only waited for about 2 and a half hours, and we had really great spots in line. The whole time we waited Kellie’s music videos were streamed on a large TV, so we were entertained for the most part. Kellie finally made her way out to sign at 3, after meeting associates. We were informed that she would sign has many CD’s as we wanted, and one personal item, by this time I had already laid eyes on Kellie and was getting pretty nervous. The line moved fast, but each fan got to take his or her time with Kellie and she was really sweet to everyone. When I got to the front of the line I was so excited that everything went kind of fast, but I do remember that Kellie called me baby and signed me CD, signed my phone case, and posed for a picture with me. She was really sweet! My friends went after me and after all four of us had our things signed and pictures taken we asked for a group picture, Kellie was happy to take another picture and made the whole experience better than expected. Later on we heard that Kellie, who was scheduled sign autographs from 2 to 6, stayed at the store for ten hours signing every autograph. Another great thing about it was, unlike most celebrities who sit behind a table and just sign, Kellie stood up in front of her signing table the whole time, giving hugs, and making pictures more intimate. The whole experience overall was very positive and I have to give the day a big ol’ 5 out of 5 stars! Also I encourage everyone to go out and buy a copy of Kellie’s new CD, “100 Proof”.
